Design and fabricate functional solar array panels with quality workmanship and demonstrate understanding of the physics of solar energy. Student teams will design and fabricate solar array panels for a local business. The solar panels must satisfy performance requirements specified by the sponsor with respect to number of arrays, power output, electrical interfaces, functionality, and craftsmanship. The panels will provide electrical power to charge a graphene capacitor capable of recharging or powering small electronic devices. For the sponsor, the focus is on creation of a functional solar panel with a professional appearance and demonstrating understanding of the physics of solar energy. For the school, the focus is on the collaboration skills demonstrated by the student teams.
