Makers On the Move

Program Description: 
Makers on the Move is an outreach program for middle- and high-school students, where college of engineering undergraduate students volunteer to facilitate hands-on STEM activities on the Millard Oakley STEM Center’s STEMmobile, a mobile laboratory housed in a 53’ tractor trailer. Activities, tied to State of Tennessee learning outcomes, range from how wind power works to circuitry. 
 
Outcomes of Program:
Program outcomes include increasing middle- and high-school students’ knowledge of STEM, especially in relation to engineering, through a curriculum emphasizing STEM and entrepreneurial-based principles; and increasing middle- and high-school students’ interest in engineering and other STEM fields by providing them with a hands-on experience with a variety of engineering products. 
 
Time Details: 

Activities range from short, 20-minute experiences to longer, more in-depth experiences of 60-minutes.
