National Academy of Engineering
Every year, the EngineerGirl website sponsors a contest dealing with engineering and its impact on our world. Usually the announcement is posted in the fall with judging and winners announced in the spring or summer. You can enter this year's contest or see past results.
How to Participate:
The student writes an essay responding to the prompt for their age category that is within the word requirements. Submit by the contest deadline for consideration.
Students will likely several weeks to research, write and revise their essays.
Individual elementary, middle school and high school students can participate. It would also be a great classroom assignment!
First-place winners will be awarded $500. Second-place entries will be awarded $250. Third-place entries will be awarded $100. All winning entries will be published on the EngineerGirl website.
One submission per student per year.
Outcome of the Activity:
Opportunity to strengthen written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
