The Day of Discovery Program is a middle school science enrichment partnership between Vanderbilt Center for Science Outreach and Metro Nashville Public Schools. This program provides students with opportunities to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and critical reading and communication skills through a hands-on problem-based approach to scientific exploration.
If you would like more information regarding the Day of Discovery program, please contact Kordell Hunter at the Center for Science Outreach at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 615-322-7140.
One submission per visit per year.
Outcome of the Activity:
Students engage in inquiry, research, experimentation, and field trips while learning about topics in STEM fields to support learning in core curricular courses and connect information to the real world. Topics examined include botany, chemistry, computer programming, engineering, genetics, microbiology, oceanography, human health and disease, and scientific research. Students not only participate in extended learning but also build skills necessary for taking advanced courses in high school.
